The Raw Beginners Collection is five crystals exactly as the earth made them, and it’s the box I wish someone had handed me twenty five years ago.

Nothing in here has been tumbled, polished or tidied up, and that’s completely intentional. Every piece is raw, straight from the ground, edges and all, and that’s the whole point. These five have been through nothing at all except a few million years, so what’s in your hand is each crystal exactly as it finished growing.

And I didn’t pick these five because they’re pretty, I picked them because they’re a team, and every one of them has a completely different job.

Amethyst is the calm one, trusted for centuries to settle busy heads, ease stress and help sleep along, the piece your fingers will find on the loud days.

Rose Quartz is the soft one, loved for thousands of years as the stone of the heart. It covers love in every direction, the romantic kind, the friendship kind, and the kind you’re supposed to point at yourself, which is nearly always the one we forget.

Amazonite is the brave one, named after the legendary Amazon warrior women, and known for lending courage, calming your worries and helping you say the things that keep hiding at the back of your throat.

Raw Obsidian is the bodyguard, and my favourite rebel, because it isn’t technically a crystal at all. It’s volcanic glass, made when lava cooled so quickly it never got the chance to grow a proper structure, so the piece in your hand is basically a moment that got frozen before it could finish. Don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s delicate though. This is the one that stands guard, keeps your feet on the ground and helps you finally put down all the heavy stuff you’ve been lugging about, and it takes the job seriously. You need to be careful with those edges though, as they can be quite shape. Some modern surgeons have used blades made from it, so when I tell you this stone knows how to cut ties, I mean it quite literally.

And the Satin Spar stick is the housekeeper, and every collection needs one, because crystals pick up and hold onto energy, and this is the one that clears it. Lay any of the others on top of it overnight and it quietly does the cleansing for you, no full moon required. It’s also fabulous at turning any space into a tranquil, peaceful place.

Because every piece is raw, no two collections will ever match. Your Amethyst will have its own peaks and valleys, your Rose Quartz its own blush, your Obsidian its own gleam, so the photographs show you the kind of pieces that will arrive rather than the exact ones.
