Description
Mookaite tumbled stones are deeply grounding, and they are the ones to reach for when a decision has got you stuck, and you can’t decide which way to go.
The reason it works so well for that is a bit different to how other stones may work, because rather than nudging you towards one option over the other, Mookaite opens up the possibility that there is more than one way through. If you have ever been torn on something, written out a list of pros and cons, looked at it, and found yourself just as stuck as you were before you started, you already know how little help weighing things up can be. Keep one of these tumbles with you and you may find the answer arrives from a direction you were not even watching.
The grounding energy is what you’ll probably notice first, because Mookaite settles you into the present moment almost as soon as you pick one up. For anyone whose head runs three conversations at once, or if you spend your day half in yesterday and half in next week, this is a good one to keep in your hand while things quieten down.
Anything shifting around you that you would much rather stayed exactly as it was becomes easier to live with when you have Mookaite nearby, because what it gives you is flexibility instead of resistance, so you’ll bend easier with the change rather than digging your heels in. It does something quite unusual alongside that, building a genuine appetite for new experiences while keeping you calm enough to actually handle them, and those two things aren’t that common to find in a crystal.
There’s also a side to Mookaite which is less known, which happens to be my favourite, where it connects you to the earth’s own rhythms and cycles, the slowing down and the starting again, which makes it a particularly good one to have around as the seasons turn. If the shift into darker evenings tends to knock you sideways every year without fail, Mookaite helps you move with it rather than brace against it.
Through a stressful stretch it is a steadying, nurturing stone to have nearby, and it brings back a sense of wholeness when everything feels scattered and nothing is quite joining up. Mookaite is protective as well, which makes it a good one to tuck into a bag when you are travelling or heading somewhere unfamiliar.
Mookaite gives you strength when you need it and brings back some of that willingness to try new things, which tends to get buried under years of being sensible. If you have forgotten what it is like to do something simply because it looks interesting, this is a lovely stone to have nearby.
The colours are the part that gets me every time, running from deep mustard yellow and vibrant red through plum, aubergine, dusky pink, cream and warm brown, sometimes two or three of them banded together in the same stone and sometimes just one shade the whole way across. Some are beautifully plain, some have the lot going on at once, and every single one of them is Mookaite. Not a mixed bag of different crystals photographed together, just one crystal doing wildly different things from one stone to the next. There is something rather fitting about the stone for seeing more than one way through being so unwilling to settle on a single colour.
What makes this stone even more remarkable is that they all came out of the same small stretch of ground, because Mookaite is only found along Mooka Creek on the western side of the Kennedy Ranges in Western Australia, and that is its only source anywhere in the world. One creek, a very long way from anywhere, is responsible for every piece of Mookaite in every shop on the planet, and the one that ends up in your hand has travelled an extraordinary distance to get there.
The polish on these is next level, and considerably better than most tumbles manage, so they catch the light beautifully and feel wonderfully smooth to hold, and the deeper reds in particular look almost wet.
Each tumble is sold individually and I pick yours intuitively when your order is packed, so you will get the one that was meant for you rather than one chosen off a screen. Given how different they all are, that is part of the fun of it. If you do have a preference of what colour you get, just get in touch to see if it’s available and if it is, I’ll make sure it’s the one you get in your order.
